민 후보는 이날 산단 내 주요 석유화학 공장을 찾아 현장 점검에 나섰다.
현장에서는 업황 회복 신호에도 불구하고 구조적 위기감이 여전히 심각하다는 진단이 이어졌다.
특히 최근 일부 실적 개선 흐름에 대해 업계 관계자들은 “저가 원재료 효과로 잠시 숨을 고른 것일 뿐”이라며 “중동 변수로 고가 원료 투입이 본격화되면 수익성 악화가 불가피하다”고 우려했다.
이에 대해 민 후보는 “지금의 여수산단은 단기 대응으로 버틸 수 있는 단계가 아니다”라며 “산업 체질을 근본적으로 바꾸는 구조전환 없이는 생존 자체가 어려운 상황”이라고 진단했다.

이날 민 후보는 전국플랜트건설노동조합 여수지부와 정책간담회를 열고 노동 현장의 위기를 직접 청취했다.
노조 측은 여수국가산단 불황 장기화로 플랜트 건설노동자들이 생존의 벼랑 끝에 내몰리고 있다며 강한 위기의식을 드러냈다.
김도연 여수지부 기획국장은 “이번 정책 제안은 단순한 전달이 아니라 산업 회복의 출발점이 돼야 한다.”며 “노동자의 절박한 요구가 반드시 현실 정책으로 이어져야 한다”고 강조했다.
노조는 이날 ▲고용안정 및 취업지원 제도 구축 ▲산업전환 대응 교육훈련 체계 ▲노사정 협의 기반 안전대책 강화 등을 핵심 과제로 제시했다.
특히 “민형배 후보야말로 여수산단을 살릴 통합시장 적임자”라며 3만3천 조직 기반의 지지 의사를 공식화해 선거 판세에도 적잖은 파장을 예고했다.

Strengthened safety measures through tripartite labor-management-government cooperation
